Double glazing / insulated glass is made of two or more pieces of tempered glass glazing sheets which might be low e or reflective glass or normal float colored glass and use sealant gumming and aluminum spacers which was filled with desiccant together. Insulated glass/ Hollow glass/IGU/Double glazing glass with the perimeter of the spacer that gets in contact with the glass is properly sealed with primary and secondary sealants to ensure it with air/argon tight.An Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) combines many panes of glass with spacer material and gas sealed in a frame into one window system.
The multiple panes of glass and gas add extra barriers to heat and cold transfer. Old industry standard practice was to fix one pane of glass into a frame to make a window, so the only barrier between your home and the outside environment was a single sheet of glass. We know this has no insulation value. In fact, when researching windows, you may find that it’s harder to find single pane units for this very reason. They still exist, but they don’t meet energy standards and they shouldn’t be used on your home.
Glass: Single glass thickness can be 3mm to 12mm, Jinyao Glass process top grade float glass.
Spacer: Insulated glass utilize air or argon spacer to separate the glass panes where they meet at the edges. These spacers usually have some sort of desiccant to absorb moisture between the panes and prevent fogging.
Glass sealant: Insulated glass need to be sealed twice, the first seal is usually Butyl Adhesive, for the second seal, Jinyao Glass use quality structural silicone sealant for the facade glass and silicone sealant for the window glass.
Molecular sieves: The function of molecular sieves is to absorb moisture from the air in the argon/air spacer. Molecular sieves should not be exposed to air for more than 4 hours, if they are exposed for more than 4 hours, they will absorb moisture from the air and the glass will fog. Thus, Jinyao Glass finish production within 4 hours to avoid fog.
